Lockdown songlist week 37

Last week was another great mix of new and some even newer songs, Jo had a new twist on an old favourite of Sunny Afternoon. Mitch did a credible tribute to Ray Clements by covering the 1982 England world cup song “This time”. We had a couple of new songs from Mick, Skyline Pigeon and Fox on the run and also another new one from Gary C “The harder they come”. At the end of the list we managed to remove a few more songs from the the Wheel of randomness, you can almost read the song titles now there are less of them.

With this Thursday being Thanksgiving for our NUGs overseas branch we thought it only fitting that we should do some American themed songs. It does of course mean that Mick has an undisputed reason to do American Pie. Between putting his Christmas decorations up and Leaving Nic stranded on the balcony (ask him to tell you the story of that one) he has managed to come up with nearly a song for every letter of the alphabet. We are still looking for American themed songs beginning with X & Z if you can think of any. These are only suggestions and with American Pie on the list there won’t be much time for anything else. If you fancy having a go at any of these let me know. If you want to do something different again drop me a note.

It is only just over a week until Decembers themed open mic night. I think I have captured all of the songs so far in the list below, if I have missed you then let me know, I get confused sometimes with all the emails coming in. Over the past few years at Christmas the booby prize of the George Formby songbook keeps reappearing. I am not sure who has it at the moment or even if they want to give it up but Mick suggested that as a prize for the song with the most tenuous link to Christmas. There are also some other suggestions for songs that you could pinch if you haven’t thought of one yet.
