Hi Everyone

A few updates on the Bradlaugh Fields Community day and the Burton Latimer Strum like a pirate day at Isham

Bradlaugh Fields – Saturday 5th August, we’ve been asked if we can play a couple of times first about 10:45am and then again at 3:00pm both for about 40mins or so. How does that suit, can we do both? Don’t feel you have to be there for both if you can only do one of them that would be great. Jonathan suggested we put a uke case down and collected some money.

Burton Latimer – 12th August 3:15pm we have 30 mins doing our own stuff followed by 15mins of leading a mass strum along of the 3 nautical/water based songs we put forward which are Irish Rover, Proud Mary and Lighthouse all very random and selected quick as they had to be in by Sunday and these were three that we already play. I have attached some more information to this email. Sorry the poster is a bit large

I am slowly altering our songbooks, there are now plenty of gaps in the work in progress so if you have any you would like adding please let me know.

See you all on Thursday

  • Event is the Bethany Summer Fayre
  • Runs from 2.30- 4.30 BUT
  • We have been asked to set up from 2.00 so can we meet then please.
  • Best way to find it is to go along St Georges Avenue with the racecourse on your left – first set of lights turn right into Trinity Avenue and the home is on your right. You should be able to park on the road itself but if not, just past the home on the same side is Fairfields School and we can park in there.
  • If you’ve got one, NUGs shirts to be worn.
  • we should be playing on a raised terrace which acts as a sort of stage.
  • There will be no sound system and if its windy we tend to disappear into the ether so be ready to sing up!
  • On the subject of wind – it will be blowy so the most important bit of travelling minstrel gear you need for the day is CLOTHES PEGS!!
  • I will be bringing copies of the new “GigBook” so your second most important piece of kit (if you have one) is a stand. Don’t worry if not – there will be spares.

We will probably do two sessions of 30-40 minutes with a break of similar length in-between.

The following is mostly in book order and takes due account of the likely vintage of the audience:

Part One

Bad Moon Rising

California Girls

Dedicated Follower of Fashion

Eight Days a Week

Galway Girl

What a day for a Daydream

Running Bear

Delilah

 Part Two

I can see clearly now

I’m a Believer

In the Summertime

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Maxwell’s Silver Hammer

Octopus’s Garden

Sunny Afternoon

Sweet Caroline

Where do you go to my lovely?

In reserve in case of a sudden outbreak of enthusiasm:

Those were the days

Macnamara’s Band

I think that covers everything. My mobile in case any problems is: 07795 348578

See you tomorrow.

When the [C] weather is fine you [G] know it’s a sign
For [F] messing a [G7]bout on the [C] river
If you take my advice there’s [G] nothing so nice
As [F] messing a [G7]bout on the [C] river

Messing about on the Canal actually.

Oh! Wendy and Ian how are you going to surpass

that trip.

Fantastic weather, great company, good food and the music and singing was not bad!!

Thanks for an unforgettable day out with theNUGS.
